Why I admired Warren Buffet

Image
Warren Buffet, the third richest man in the world, declared he would give 80% of his fortune to charitable causes. In 2009, he donated $42 billion to the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation which affected his ranking in Forbes Magazine's World's Billionaires. In life, there are people who really leave an impressive mark in our imagination because of their rareness. Among them is Wa rren Buffet. Warren Buffet is the legendary American billionaire whose immense wealth made him the world's richest man in 2007. He built his fortune through shrewd investing style, techniques he learned from Intelligent Investing author, Benjamin Graham. Buffet famously dubbed by experts as one of the most brilliant investors in world history. But despite his billions, Buffet remained humble and simple, his  frugality became a legend in the world's business circuit.   He has no expensive mansion, he continues to reside in a modest house in Omaha, Nebraska which he bought in the l

The People I Admired

These are the people I greatly admired in life, not because of their popularity and privileged background, but on how their legendary charms and abilities stirred the consciousness of humanity.  They managed to shape and influence the world with their unique personality, ability, passion and devotion to create a difference. POPE JOHN PAUL II " He was the true great Christian disciple who firmly believed that Jesus Christ is the only answer to all questions about human life ", This is how the late Great Pope, John Paul II, described by his biographer, Georg Wigel, during an interview with the TIME magazine. Pope John Paul II, perhaps the greatest spiritual leader to come in recent memory, had worked tirelessly for the benefit of humanity.  His unique kindness, compassion, devotion to Catholic faith, effort to spread peace and solidarity and promotion for international understanding made him one of the most effective God's messengers of peace ever sat in t

People I would Love to Meet

If given a chance to meet world figures, I would choose them. Pope Benedict XVI When Pope John Paul II was still alive, not a day goes passed without wishing I could see him in person, until he died in 2005, that “chance” did not happen at all. Now, I am begging God once again to let me see the current Roman Pontiff. As a devoted Roman Catholic all my life (my family had long been serving the Catholic Church before I was born), nothing is more fulfilling than seeing the Vicar of Christ in person. Of course one of my earnest wishes in life is to visit Vatican City . Stephen Hawking He is often called as the last living genius, in the tradition of Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton and Michael Faraday, that is in the world today. Hawking is a British Theoritical Physicist, Mathematician, Philosopher and professor, he published many theories, scientific researches and books, two of his famous works are The Brief History of Time and The Briefer History of Time. He teaches at Cambr

Microsoft Tale

Funny!!!but this topic became our "dessert" last night in our Marketing Managemet class in the graduate school. After I presented my journal critique about Marketing Myopia (famous work of Harvard business professor, Theodore Levitt), my Korean classmate took over the floor to do the chapter highlight report and we were amazed with his awesome presentation.  He showed some videos related to " Product Development" topic including separate interviews of three world's most successful businessmen, Steve Jobs (Apple Incorporated founder),Warren Buffet (Berkshire Hathaway) and Bill Gates (Microsoft). Interestingly, these three companies topped the list of Fortune magazine's World's Most Admired Companies. Warren Buffet and Bill Gates, third and second richest men in the world Unlike the video interview of Steve Jobs where he talked about hardcore business topics and the mode of discussions were very serious, the one with Warren Buffet and Bill

Stephen Hawking

I was a little bit disappointed when I wasn’t able to attend the Christmas Party of the Davao Bloggers Community last December 3 (Friday) because I had a class at 6:00 to 9:00 pm, but it was a blessing in disguise because we had a wonderful class discussion that night. My professor, a well-traveled lady who took up her two Masteral degrees in Australia and the United States , shared a very touching story about STEPHEN HAWKING . For people who didn’t know Stephen Hawking, he is a British Theoritical Physicist, Cosmologist and a Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at the prestigious Cambridge University (a post previously held by another gifted Physicist, Sir Isaac Newton). He earned his Physics and Mathematics degree at Cambridge and Oxford. Hawking is traditionally called the last genius (in the tradition of Albert Einstein , Galileo Galili and Isaac Newton) to survive in the 21 st century. According to his biography, Hawking is known for his contribution in the fields of Cosmolo
