My ultimate crush is marrying! :-P Irresistible. Smart. Intelligent. Blindingly handsome with stunning soulful eyes. Who would not be smitten with Direk Lino Cayetano? Nakks! The gorgeous TV director will be “out of the market” soon. He is set to marry his girlfriend for just 3 months, former volleyball player of Ateneo Lady Eagles at UAAP, Fille Cainglet, 13 years his junior. The wedding will be held outside Metro Manila anytime this month and very exclusive to direct family members only. Direk Lino Cayetano now the representative of the 2nd district of Taguig  in the House of Congress. He has been so secretive with the details of his wedding. Domestic Violence

Just this morning, I read a very sad and frustrating news about this heartless mother from Texas, USA, who had been sentenced to 99 years imprisonment due to the physical abuse she inflicted to her 2 year-old daughter. This news really made me choke in disbelief and horror. How can a mother  got a nerve to abuse her own toddler?Who, at the age of two, is still very innocent and clueless with what's happening around? The story goes that the young mother glued her daughter's hands on the wall and previously hit her in the head sending her to a coma, good that the toddler survived, there must be a good reason why God allowed her to survive. I just can't understand why it happened, what went wrong with the head of that mother, who is suppose to be the protector of her own children and suppose to nurture and nourish them with so much care and love, can really do such repulsive and disgusting thing in life? Didn't she know that it would leave a scar to the child...

Cybercrime Law and its controversies

Alright! Now, we have this latest law to talk about, worry perhaps?Hmmmm... Republic Act No.10175 , famously known as Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 , is signed into law last September 12, 2012. And since it is already a law, anybody caught committing a cybercrime could be criminally charged in court!Arggghhh. So what's this law all about? Why there's a fuss? Who would be affected? Are bloggers and columnists are in danger? As a blogger who maintained blogs and post several articles online, I am anxious and deeply bothered with this law and how this would affect the style of my writing hehe! Since libel is one of the criminal offenses included in the bill, I should be careful now in attacking famous personalities, my question is : Am I not allowed to criticize.. uhmmm ...Kate Middleton?^___^  Thank God she is not a resident of the Philippines. I am also afraid that I cannot download images anymore for my blogs due to the provision of "illegal access"  ...

Finale of London Olympics 2012

Image
London Olympics is finally over, and just like the opening ceremony, I wasn't able to watch its closing ceremony. I just read the news and updates through online feeds. I still have to catch up watching videos on the highlight of the games. I'm searching free videos of Dressage and Showjumping of the Equestrian event and so with synchronized swimming and floor exercise of the Gymnastic event. During the closing ceremony, it was announced that the 2016 Olympics will be held at Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, hopefully by this time, Philippines can bring home at least one medal.  I am appalled with the Philippine government's style in encouraging athletes, they are offering millions to winners, but during the preparation, little has been given to these athletes, are they insane? How can athletes do their best if they lacked good training, preparation and financial support. These athletes are personally spending their own money to finance their training and other needs an...

London Olympics 2012

Image
Hidilyn Diaz of the Philippine team I was not able to watch the parade of the athletes during the opening ceremony of the London Olympics 2012, so I made an effort last night to watch, until 1:00 in the morning, the weightlifting event for the women division because Philippines has one entry, Hidilyn Diaz, who was the Philippine flag bearer during the opening ceremony. She is only 21 years old and the Philippines' strongest hope to bring home a medal for this Olympics. She  had represented the Philippines during the Beijing Olympics in 2008 as a wild card entry on the same event. She was a bronze medalist at the age of 15 during the 2007 SEA games and ranked 9th in the world. I thought she could make it, unfortunately, she was not able to lift the weights when it was set at 133 kgs. Diaz tried and I could see how much she wanted to win. I saw her crying and hugged by her coach as disappointment and frustration registered all over her face when her three attempts failed...

Mother Earth Destruction

Image
Last Saturday, June 16, 2012, my colleagues in the university invited me to join them for a property viewing at one of the suburban areas in Davao City. We went to the office of the Real Estate Agent at half past noon then brought us to the three areas where the property development would take place in three years time. While looking at the area, I felt very sad upon seeing the massive destruction done by property developers to the mother earth. It is simply disappointing to see the green environment ruined, the cool and relaxing trees and plants cannot be seen and felt anymore. Why on earth the government allowed this to happen? Why there's no law implemented that would control which portion of the environment only allowed to be developed for subdivision? Property developers are so rude, greed and selfish! All they think is money and their riches but never think of what is good for the environment and the government tolerated and cooperated this bad act! I am so sad ...

Happy Chinese New Year

Image
How to say it when you are in the Philippines Never use the term "Kung Hei Fat Choi" When you are in the Philippines, according to ABS-CBN news reported by Willard Cheng, the most appropriate greeting to utter to the Chinese community is " Kiong Hee Huat Tsai". It is a Hokkien greeting which means " congratulations and wishing you prosperity" . Hokkien is one of the local dialects spoken in China.  Why " Kiong Hee Huat Tsai" is more appropriate to utter than " Kung Hei Fat Choi "? It's because most Chinese-Filipinos  came from the Fujian province of China who spoke Hokkien. Great Taipans, Lucio Tan, Henry Sy, John Gokongwei, are just some of the Chinese immigrants who spoke Hokkien.  " Kung Hei Fat Choi"  is a Cantonese term. Cantonese is a Chinese local dialect widely spoken in Hongkong, Macau and Guangdong, China. It was believed that Cantonese from Hongkong displayed the greetings "Kung Hei Fat ...
