Practicing a Job Interview

Okay, this is some sort of practice. Since I am just waiting to finish my masteral degree and look for another job where I could maximize my potentials, I did some research about the possible job interviews thrown by prospective employers.  I always considered oral interviews as scary, it terrifies me, I have this less-than perfect oral recitation skill back in school :-) So to prepare myself for this nerve-wracking ordeal, I gathered possible questions: What is your greatest strength? I pride myself for having this very flexible attitude when it comes to meeting deadlines. My experience as a freelance writer online thought me so many things about submitting work on time. What is your greatest weakness? I have this very bad stammering habit. I stutter a lot so I have this less-than-perfect oral communication skill. It's something I dreaded with but I am slowly working on it because I know it is a disadvantage especially in a globally competitive workplace.

Ignatian Leadership Seminar

Image
Finally, we’re done! Last night, our group (we’re only four in the group because our Chinese classmate went home to China for a business trip) conducted a seminar-workshop entitled AHA: A seminar on the foundation of leadership in our Ignatian Leadership for Managers and Entrepreneurs class. In this subject, we are divided into five groups and one of the class requirements is for us to conduct a seminar in the class. (First photo: Maam Bel, me, Jerry, Gerlie and Joel). Our topic is about self-awareness (as one of the foundation of a good leader and manager). It runs smoothly and we had a wonderful session. It was a nice evening, our professor, Maam Bel Actub did her critics after we presented. She gave her assessment on how we conducted the seminar and how we can improve the lapses. I have only one presentation to prepare before the semester ends, the Business plan presentation in my Marketing Management subject, but I never worry this class presentation because I wi

The People I Admired

Image
These are the people I greatly admired in life, not because of their popularity and privileged background, but on how their legendary charms and abilities stirred the consciousness of humanity.  They managed to shape and influence the world with their unique personality, ability, passion and devotion to create a difference. POPE JOHN PAUL II " He was the true great Christian disciple who firmly believed that Jesus Christ is the only answer to all questions about human life ", This is how the late Great Pope, John Paul II, described by his biographer, Georg Wigel, during an interview with the TIME magazine. Pope John Paul II, perhaps the greatest spiritual leader to come in recent memory, had worked tirelessly for the benefit of humanity.  His unique kindness, compassion, devotion to Catholic faith, effort to spread peace and solidarity and promotion for international understanding made him one of the most effective God's messengers of peace ever sat in t

Valentine's Day 2011

Today is another Valentine's Day. Sweet roses are everywhere and Chocolate (though I hate it) sounds like a national food. Fancy restaurants and hotel cafes offer romantic dinners for lovers. Abracadabra.  Okay... While the rest of the world are swathed in red, I will going to paint my world with an innocent color, ice pink--sweet, fresh and vibrant--because I want to believe that life and magic still exist in a world where frustration and disappointment became my life's constant companion. Well, I just love the idea of being in love. As simple as that. Deep inside, yes, it is. I celebrated the past Valentine's Days with my closest friends, but this year, I want to spend it alone with my laptop and books in my room. Lots of case assignments and writings to do, so instead of dining with friends and talk about frustrating things in life, I'll just spend the rest of the night in writing while dreaming positive things and what's-coming-ahead. I am also tired

President Noy's Love Life

Image
Because I'm tired drooling my eyes wondering why people keep on insisting February is the month of love, I tried emptying my mind with clutters by reading shallow news that has nothing to do with the oil price hike in the world market (PNoy kept insisting people should not focus on his love life) so I choose to invade PNoy's privacy.lol! It's a good relief that the President whisked his eyes away from Liz Uy because I don't feel she is the right one for him (shhhh!just my opinion), now enter another name.... Len Lopez . Len Lopez is the latest flame of the bachelor president, they spotted going out since November 2010, and in one of their outings, dining at one of the posh restaurants in Greenbelt 2, he was heard uttering this heart-skipping line " Do I make you laugh ?"wooooooow that's so sweet and cute!PNoy after all is still capable of uttering magical line that makes every woman's heart dribble in thrill and delight. Though he tried very

Birthday and Death

Image
While posting a birthday greeting to the Philippine President, N oynoy Aquino, in my twitter account, my home page was flooded with latest tweets from the people/Entity I followed:Karen Davila, Julius Babao, Sol Aragones and The Inquirer regarding the shooting incident in the Loyola Park just this morning, I thought the former AFP chief, Angelo Reyes was shot by an unknown assailant but updates on the shooting stated that the former Defense secretary really shot himself to death, an apparent suicide was ruled eventually. Another tweet says that Reyes was hazy and emotionally bothered in the previous days because of the Senate investigation linking AFP comptroller, Major General Carlos Garcia on the alleged massive corruption in the AFP, the news revealed that the house hearing committee is set to summon Reyes for this controversy. Reyes, who was with his two sons and a bodyguard at the Loyola Memorial Park to visit the grave of his mother, shoot himself on the chest after he orde

Centennial Celebration of Institucion Teresiana

I seldom attend “anticipated mass for Sunday” (Saturday afternoon mass, normally beyond 5pm) because I am completely aware that anticipated mass is only for people who cannot really make it on Sunday due to illness or very important commitment. But yesterday, I tried breaking the rule because I am afraid I couldn’t make it today as I have so many assignments and reports to prepare...hmmm maybe this is a valid reason..hehe I arrived early, around 4:45pm so I just looked around and seated quietly in the front pew. It was brown out and the humid environment gave me discomfort and mosquitos seemed roaring around my feet. But it was a great one and felt like my heart was bursting! The mass marked the centennial celebration of Institucion Teresiana , an international religious association. Archbishop Fernando Capalla celebrated the mass with some DCD priests and members of the Jesuit Community, Fr. Samson (the outgoing President of Ateneo de Davao ) was there with Fr. Miley and F

Most Corrupt People in the World

We'd an Anti-Corruption Sensitivity Seminar-Workshop in one of my classes in the grad school and oh boy! Two out of ten most corrupt people in the world are Filipinos. Wow, even the most disgusting Top Ten List, Filipinos never missed to be included! Thank God Philippines had Cory and Ninoy who partly save the country's distressing image in the world affairs. In 2010 December, they were named by TIME magazine as two of 100 PEOPLE WHO SHAPED and INFLUENCED THE 20th Century. The only Filipinos who managed to be included in the TIME listing. Back to the most corrupt, here is the complete list: World's Ten Most Corrupt Leaders Name Position Funds embezzled 2 1. Mohamed Suharto President of Indonesia (1967–1998) $15–35 billion 2. Ferdinand Marcos President of the Philippines (1972–1986) 5–10 billion 3. Mobutu Sese Seko President of Zaire (1965–1997) 5 billion 4. Sani Abacha President of Nigeria (1993–1998)

People I would Love to Meet

If given a chance to meet world figures, I would choose them. Pope Benedict XVI When Pope John Paul II was still alive, not a day goes passed without wishing I could see him in person, until he died in 2005, that “chance” did not happen at all. Now, I am begging God once again to let me see the current Roman Pontiff. As a devoted Roman Catholic all my life (my family had long been serving the Catholic Church before I was born), nothing is more fulfilling than seeing the Vicar of Christ in person. Of course one of my earnest wishes in life is to visit Vatican City . Stephen Hawking He is often called as the last living genius, in the tradition of Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton and Michael Faraday, that is in the world today. Hawking is a British Theoritical Physicist, Mathematician, Philosopher and professor, he published many theories, scientific researches and books, two of his famous works are The Brief History of Time and The Briefer History of Time. He teaches at Cambr

Microsoft Tale

Image
Funny!!!but this topic became our "dessert" last night in our Marketing Managemet class in the graduate school. After I presented my journal critique about Marketing Myopia (famous work of Harvard business professor, Theodore Levitt), my Korean classmate took over the floor to do the chapter highlight report and we were amazed with his awesome presentation.  He showed some videos related to " Product Development" topic including separate interviews of three world's most successful businessmen, Steve Jobs (Apple Incorporated founder),Warren Buffet (Berkshire Hathaway) and Bill Gates (Microsoft). Interestingly, these three companies topped the list of Fortune magazine's World's Most Admired Companies. Warren Buffet and Bill Gates, third and second richest men in the world Unlike the video interview of Steve Jobs where he talked about hardcore business topics and the mode of discussions were very serious, the one with Warren Buffet and Bill

Created Another Blog

I created another blog again! This time it's about wedding preparations, how to handle the planning and organizing without resorting to professional planners and organizers. In 2006, I started writing a wedding script, silly as it was, but I was confident I could take a trip down-the-aisle before the year of the metal tiger arrive. But as what other fairytale stuff would have it, destiny decreed otherwise.... So before I would trash my wedding script, I decided to post it to share what I learned from the experts. Well, the idea of planning itself is fascinating, it allows creativity to explore the wonders of daydreaming. Most often than not, I maximized this gift. Well, I often treated this as a gift. To be able to write something unique, much more a wedding idea journal, is always a fantastic gift from God. Now I will make use with this gift....rather than spend every minute of my life in remorse and frustration why everything turns out badly with my fate (where I am carefully p

The Year of the Metal Rabbit

Happy New Year! Contrary to what I had plan earlier, I didn't return home because I've so many school task to do: case analysis, journal critiques and endless class reports. While I spent Christmas alone in my boarding house, I was able to spend New Year with my good friends who welcomed me in their house with open arms, they preferred terrific foods and we spent the whole evening in talking. I am very optimistic I could accomplish priorities this year, I am confident God will grant all my request this year, if not all, then some of it. I hope I am more lucky in the year of the metal rabbit.

Favorite Quotes

It's the end of the year so I am a little bit mushy " We don't stop loving someone, we simply learn to live without them" A powerful quote indeed. Loving someone does not end in forgetfulness--even if you want too. It feels like it takes forever to discard it from your system especially if it's genuine. It's a hell of a torture. But you must endure it, no matter how difficult., you must simply learn to live without him.. Hearing him fall in love with someone new-- -again --- is somewhat disconcerting...but that's life...and there's nothing I can do about it anymore... nothing. SOME OF MY FAVORITE QUOTES: "If you find yourself in love with a person who does not love you, be gentle with yourself. There is nothing wrong with you. Love just didn't choose to rest in the other person's heart" "Sometimes you think you've gotten over a person, but when you see him smile you suddenly realize you're j

Great Lessons

Great Lessons I learned and the things I love... 1. From Rissa Singson-Kawpeng "Take it from someone who prayed for two decades and concluded it wouldn't happen. But God is so great and so faithful".  2. From Bo Sanchez "You will never be completely healed if you don't recognize pain, if you don't acknowledge that you've been hurt!"  3. From Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales "Television is bad for children, it robs the natural imaginativeness of a child"  4. From Diana, Princess of Wales "A woman instinct is always accurate" (she uttered this line during her interview in 1995 with BBC news commentator, Martin Bashir. Well the late Princess of Wales is right. A woman instinct is always accurate) 5. From Pope John Paul II "It is in suffering that we see and experience the real love of Christ" (every time I suffer, I always remember this line from the late great pope) 6. From Jane Fonda &qu

Another Decade

Image
Two days more to go and 2010 will bid goodbye...next year is not only another year but ANOTHER DECADE ...oh gosh! so what now?? Am I going to start counting how many fine lines revealed every time I laughed or cry? No. In fact I don't have any fine lines visible in my skin surface yet. My healthy lifestyle helps a lot. My biological clock is not ticking so fast, in fact it is not entering red zone yet. Last Night, I started writing everything I want to accomplish next decade. Contemplating again what my future looks like. Where my life is heading. I didn't come home this Christmas, contrary to what I'd planned earlier this season. I have so many task to do. I spent everyday, since December 23, writing case analysis and journal critiques for my marketing management subject in the grad studies. I want to finish the 20 case studies, assignments, journal readings in order to free my schedule next January and February because I will going to start working on a home-ba
